Staying Fit at Home
Many of us have had to learn the importance of good health during the Coronavirus pandemic. I include myself in this discussion. It is a good thing that in May of 2019, I began working out daily during the week. My regime started with a personal trainer, and then the nearby YMCA became my second home. I alternated between the treadmill, rowing machine, and elliptical for an hour, followed by getting into the sauna and taking a shower. As a former athlete, this regime was the perfect solution for fighting diabetes and rebuild my health.
By March of 2020, when the nearby YMCA, like all other gyms throughout New Jersey, and the rest of the country, shut down, I had established my exercise routine to help fight disease. Once shutdowns started to happen, working from home became real for many office workers. Along with this transition, working out at home became necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle as well. You have started to see brands like Peloton and Lululemon grow exponentially due to this significant lifestyle shift. Our homes become the perfect space to transform into small gyms.
I know many are tired of being held up in their homes. Building a gym in our house is an excellent way to ride these uncertain times out. It requires us to understand our health and wellness needs. The right equipment and space are essential to continuing to take care of ourselves. While working from home presents specific challenges, working out at home is a luxury; everyone should experience during these uncertain times.
