Work From Home
Office workers are facing the most transformative era in decades. Their homes are now becoming either their primary or secondary office. The evolving infrastructure of technology has made it easier for us today to work from home regularly. A recent Gartner survey reveals that 41% of employees will work remotely out of their home some of the time.
Future designs and remodels of apartments, condos, townhomes, and single-family homes will have to consider the home office in the foreseeable future.
Adjustable kitchens islands that welcome a family for meals to staff for work. Compressed seating can help create space for lounging and working. Homes with media rooms will have an advantage with either a large screen TV or a projector screen that can be a computer screen for a tablet or laptop. These ideas make it easier for people working from home to achieve their office duties. Using their garage or sheds for offices can use ergonomic furniture to convert them into a remote office.
Some homeowners have enough square footage in their owner’s suite to create a home office near their bed. Others may be able to convert a spacious family room into a home office as well. In the early 1990s, Fast Company launched with a cover that talked about computing was becoming personal. The explosion of social media is evidence. Now the home is becoming our office. Again, we can thank evolving technology for making this possible.
