Streaming Times

Entertainment streaming is one of the few silver linings from the coronavirus pandemic emergence and surge. One of the benefactors is Netflix, and with good reason. They and their competition are helping us navigate an awful social terrain as a result of the pandemic. Hollywood, movie theaters, Network, and Cable TV suffer the most as streaming has become the new norm. Customers win in the new world order of entertainment.

When you factor the news of Warner Brothers streaming all of their 2021 films on HBO Max, it follows Disney’s Mulan’s blockbuster launch on their streaming service, Disney+. We’ve come to cherish our streaming subscriptions in comfort and the privacy of our homes. The movie theater industry has good reason to be concerned about this direct-to-consumer model.

Once again, Netflix continues to disrupt the movie industry by promising to release a feature movie each week during this holiday season. Jingle Jangle being one of them, which has garnered great reviews from subscribers and critics. One of Netflix’s best attributes is its unmatched foreign language production library. It includes exceptional and mediocre work from Asia, West Africa, India, Portugal, Mexico (who can forget the moving Roma), and Brazil, to name a few. A perfect example of their foreign holiday content is their other new Portuguese holiday film, Just Another Christmas. This strategy gives them an edge over the traditional Hollywood studios and movie theaters.
